On the Reef is a series featuring fabulous indie authors from around the blogosphere and beyond. Titles, covers, and blurbs that catch my eye, new releases, great reads… Basically, authors I’d like to highlight and works I’d like to share with my fellow book-loving word nerds. Happy Reading!
New Release
Eventide by Mae Clair
Hode’s Hill Novel (Book 3)
The darkness is coming . . .
The old house near Hode’s Hill, Pennsylvania is a place for Madison Hewitt to start over—to put the trauma of her husband’s murder, and her subsequent breakdown, behind her. She isn’t bothered by a burial plot on the property, or the mysterious, sealed cistern in the basement. Not at first. Even the presence of cold spots and strange odors could be fabrications of her still troubled mind. But how to explain her slashed tires, or the ominous messages that grow ever more threatening?
Convinced the answer lies in the past, Madison delves into the history of the home’s original owners, only to discover the origin of a powerful evil. An entity that may be connected to a series of gruesome attacks that have left police baffled. No matter where she turns—past or present—terror lingers just a step away, spurred on by a twisted obsession that can only be satisfied through death…

This is my favorite series from Mae (so far, though In Search of McDoogal could possibly become my NEW fave). I loved all three Hode’s Hill books, especially this shivery last one. Major Creep Factor in a super story. Thanks for featuring Mae’s work today! 🙂 Sharing!! ❤

I’ve seen the Hode’s Hill series around but not In Search of McDoogal. What’s that one? Do tell. 🙂

It’s her newest series of shorter reads, and it’s a very, very different Mae Clair. Hilarious, snarky, and loads of fun. I can’t wait for the next one. 🙂

More than happy to share. 🙂 I’ve been seeing this (and the entite Hode’s Hill series) around lately and they sound amazing. Side note: I absolutely LOVE these covers. ❤

The covers ARE fantastic, aren’t they, Sarah? I love them, too. And the evoke the stories within. The cover for In Search of McDoogal is very different, and you know before you open the book, it’s going to be something far removed from the Hode’s Hill shivers. I think you’d enjoy both, but if you are in the mood for a quick (90 minutes or less), fun read, McDoogal’s the one. If you want to go exploring in the spooky part of town, Hode’s Hill is your answer. 😀

Both. However, I’m opting for McDoogal first. 😉 Thanks, Marcia!
